2011 Louis Berger Group Fellows Share their Experience

Please come out Wednesday afternoon to the Special Events Forum at Bloustein to hear four of your fellow MCRP/MPP students share their experiences during the summer of 2011 as Louis Berger Group fellows working internationally on pressing planning and policy issues.

If you are interested in applying to be one of the 2012 Berger Fellows, this is the perfect chance to network and learn more about what the experience is actually like. If not, it is a great chance to revel in your classmates' exciting travels and get some FREE FOOD.

The students presenting and their project titles are:

Two Conferences… and a float… That Should Be On Your Radar

May 18-19, 2011               Green Solutions for Urban New Jersey
This two-day conference is sponsored by Rutgers – CUES and will highlight green solutions to New Jersey’s urban environmental problems. The first day will be held in Jersey City and the second day will be held in Newark. Both locations are readily accessible to public transportation.

There are student scholarships available to cover the registration fee as well as an exciting student poster competition focusing on innovative and imaginative ways to deal with urban environmental issues. And for those of you who are working planners already, rumor has it that the conference (have to attend both days) has been approved for 10.5 CEU credits from the APA.
June 12, 2011                     First Annual Raritan River Spring Float
Here is your chance to get out on the beautiful Raritan River. This event is a continuation of the highly successful First Annual Raritan River Fall Float in the fall of 2009. This year participants will be able to float down the Raritan from New Brunswick to Sayreville and top off the day with a picnic and good company. The registration fee will be $10. June 16, 2011                      Third Annual Sustainable Raritan River Conference
This full-day conference is subtitled “Economy, Ecology and the Future of the Raritan River Region.” The conference consists of 6 tracks of workshops (one in the morning and one in the afternoon) addressing restoration, water quality, cultural resources, and much more. Judith Enck, the Region III EPA Administrator will be the keynote speaker and the afternoon special events include a fly casting clinic.
